Off-plan apartments: rewards and risks

By Alcom Consultants1 min read

Apartment towers on the Nairobi skyline

Buying off-plan can save 15 to 25 percent on the finished price, but you carry the risk of delays.

Check the developer

Visit completed projects, confirm approvals from the county and NEMA, and ask who the contractor is.

Protect your payments

  1. Pay into an escrow or the project account, never cash.
  2. Tie instalments to construction milestones.
  3. Have an advocate review the sale agreement.

A fair price today is only a bargain if the building is finished.
